The goal of the CERT First Aider Course is to equip you to:

• Assess with Speed: Execute scene surveys to prioritise care.
• Perform with Precision: Conduct continuous chest compressions at the correct rate and depth.
• Deliver Life-Saving Shocks: Follow AED voice prompts and safety precautions to deliver shocks safely.
• Document and Report: Accurately record incidents for official reporting.
• Complete Assessments Successfully: Excel in both theory assessments and practical skill evaluations.
• Obtain Professional Certification: Secure your SCDF-recognised certificate (valid for 2 years) for CERT First Aider assignment.

To successfully complete the CERT First Aider Course, you will need to

• Complete all e-learning modules including lessons and quizzes
• Attend all in-class sessions
• Achieve a minimum 80% score for the CERT First Aider Theory Assessment
• Successfully complete all practical assessments for CPR+AED and bandaging. 

Although most learners succeed at first try, up to 3 attempts are given to complete all assessments successfully.

CERT First Aider Course learners must be

• Proficient in English
• Able to perform moderate physical activities such as CPR
• Willing to practice techniques on one another

The CERT First Aider Course (Blended) is eligible for SSG Funding and SkillsFuture Credits (SFC). This is handled automatically on our Baoza platform. 

SkillsFuture Funding & Eligibility

• Instant Subsidy: Funding is subjected to SSG approval. During registration, your applicable subsidy will be automatically calculated—you only pay the Nett Fee (balance after funding).
• Confirmation: Your seat is secured once your nett fee payment is received.
• Compliance Requirements: To maintain your subsidy, you must record your attendance via the Singpass App and successfully pass all assessments.
• Funding Liability: If SSG requirements are not met (e.g., absence or assessment failure), or if SSG rejects the claim, the participant or sponsoring company will be liable for the full, non-funded course fee.

Who is required to take the CERT First Aider (CERT) Course? 

The CERT First Aider Course is required for all workplace CERT responders who must respond to medical and trauma emergencies at work. This training ensures organizations meet mandatory regulatory requirements for emergency preparedness.

How long is the SCDF Recognised CERT First Aider certification valid? 

The CERT First Aider certification is valid for 2 years. To maintain your qualification for compliance, you must attend a refresher course within 3 months of current certificate expiry.

What is the difference between the Full Classroom CERT First Aider Course and Blended Cert First Aider Course? 

Both versions of the CERT First Aider Course carry the same topics and recognition. They are both recognised by the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) for assigned CERT First Aid Responders. The full classroom course features 8 hours of in-person training, while the blended version allows you to complete theory online, reducing classroom time by almost half, while covering the same accredited curriculum. The Blended CERT First Aider Course is a better option for those who prefer the flexibility of self-directed learning and spending less time in class. It boils down to the preference of each individual. 

What is the difference between the CERT First Aider Course and the Occupational First Aid Course?

The CERT First Aider (CERT) Course provides the essentials for managing adult emergencies in the community and workplace. The Occupational First Aid (OFA) Course is a highly comprehensive course covering about 23.5 hours of lessons and skills practice. While OFA is made mandatory by the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) for designated workplace first aiders, the CERT First Aider Course is laser-focused for CERT responders attending to workplace emergencies. This streamlined approach ensures learners who are designated CERT First Aiders complete their training efficiently, without needing to undergo additional modules beyond their scope of practice.

Are child and infant procedures covered in the CERT First Aider Course? 

The CERT First Aider Course focuses primarily on adult related emergencies. Although some skills such as wound management can be universal, there are special considerations for child and infant emergencies that a first aider needs to take into account. Management of child and infant emergencies are covered in our SRFAC accredited Child First Aid Course. 

Is this course accepted by SCDF for recognition of designated CERT Members?

Yes. The CERT First Aider Course is recognised and accepted as the qualification required for designated CERT members.

Are there any prerequisites for enrolling in the CERT Blended course? 

Participants should be proficient in English and have the capability to complete the self-directed online learning modules. They should also be able to perform moderate physical activities like CPR, and be willing to practice techniques on fellow learners.

Can I use my SkillsFuture Credits (SFC) or SSG funding? 

Yes. The CERT Blended course is eligible for SSG funding and SkillsFuture Credits. When registering via our Baoza platform, your subsidy is automatically calculated so you only pay the nett fee.

I don’t have past exposure to first aid. Will I struggle with the CERT First Aider Course? 

The Blended CERT First Aider Course is expertly designed to transform beginners into confident first responders. You will first establish a strong theoretical baseline through our self-paced online modules. When you arrive for the practical session, our trainers will guide you through personalized, hands-on coaching and intensive drills. This ensures you learn essential skills like bandaging and CPR+AED usage in a supportive environment, giving you the confidence to act effectively in a real-life crisis.

If I wish to become a first aid instructor, does the Blended CERT First Aider Course meet the prerequisites?

The CERT First Aider Course does not meet the qualifying prerequisites for the entry into the first aid instructor course in Singapore (Standard First Aid Instructor Course). The minimum first aid provider level that is required for the Standard First Aid Instructor Course is the Standard First Aid Course. 

What happens if I miss a session or fail the assessment? 

To remain eligible for SSG funding, you must use the Singpass app for attendance and pass all assessments. If these requirements are not met, the trainee or sponsoring company may be liable for the full, non-funded course fee.

How many attempts do I have for the CERT First Aider assessments? 

Most CERT First Aider learners succeed on their first try; however, we provide up to 3 attempts to complete all theory and practical assessments successfully.

Is the CERT First Aider Course easy? Will it be difficult to pass the CERT Course?

Although the CERT First Aider Course covers a spectrum of first aid topics and skills practice in a short time, it is easy to follow and delivered in a highly interactive manner to encourage retention. Not only is the success rate of learners very high, they feel confident and more prepared to perform during emergency situations.
