The goal of the CERT First Aider Refresher Course is to equip you to:

• Assess with Speed: Re-validate your ability to conduct scene surveys to prioritize care safely.
• Perform with Precision: Execute high-quality CPR and follow AED safety procedures correctly.
• Apply Treatment: Confidently manage wounds and provide support for sprains, strains, and fractures.
• Complete Assessments Successfully: Excel in the updated theory and practical assessments.
• Obtain Professional Certification: Secure your SCDF-recognised certificate (valid for 2 years) for CERT First Aider assignment.

To successfully complete the CERT First Aider Refresher Course, you will need to

• Attend all in-class sessions
• Achieve a minimum 80% score for the CERT First Aider Refresher Theory Assessment
• Successfully complete all practical assessments for CPR+AED and bandaging. 

Although most learners succeed at first try, up to 3 attempts are given to complete all assessments successfully.

CERT First Aider Refresher Course learners must be

• Proficient in English
• Able to perform moderate physical activities such as CPR
• Willing to practice techniques on one another
• Holding a CERT First Aider Certification (valid or within 3 months of expiry)

The CERT First Aider Refresher Course is eligible for SSG Funding and SkillsFuture Credits (SFC). This is handled automatically on our Baoza platform. 

SkillsFuture Funding & Eligibility

• Instant Subsidy: Funding is subjected to SSG approval. During registration, your applicable subsidy will be automatically calculated—you only pay the Nett Fee (balance after funding).
• Confirmation: Your seat is secured once your nett fee payment is received.
• Compliance Requirements: To maintain your subsidy, you must record your attendance via the Singpass App and successfully pass all assessments.
• Funding Liability: If SSG requirements are not met (e.g., absence or assessment failure), or if SSG rejects the claim, the participant or sponsoring company will be liable for the full, non-funded course fee.

Who is required to take the CERT First Aider (CERT) Refresher Course? 

The CERT First Aider Refresher course is required for all workplace CERT responders who must respond to medical and trauma emergencies at work. This training ensures organizations meet mandatory regulatory requirements for emergency preparedness.

How long is the SCDF Recognised CERT First Aider Refresher certification valid? 

The CERT First Aider Refresher certification is valid for 2 years. To maintain your qualification for compliance, you must attend a refresher course within 3 months of current certificate expiry.

Is there a “blended” version of the CERT First Aider Refresher Course? 

The CERT First Aider Refresher Course is conducted exclusively in a face-to-face classroom format. While online resources may be provided for self-directed study, they are strictly supplementary and do not count toward the training hours required in class.

What is the difference between the CERT First Aider Course and the Child First Aid Course?

The CERT First Aider (CERT) Course provides the essentials for managing adult emergencies in the community and workplace. The Child First Aid (CFA) Course is a more comprehensive course covering about 16 hours of lessons and skills practice while including child and infant topics. While CFA is mandatory for those working in the early childhood education sector, the CERT First Aider Course is laser-focused for CERT responders attending to workplace emergencies. This streamlined approach ensures learners who are designated CERT First Aiders complete their training efficiently, without needing to undergo additional modules beyond their scope of practice.

What specific life-saving skills are covered in the CERT First Aider Refresher Course? 

You will learn to perform high-quality hands-only CPR and AED operations for adults, as well as how to manage injuries like bleeding, fractures and burns.

Is this course accepted by SCDF for recognition of designated CERT Members?

Yes. The CERT First Aider Refresher Course is recognised and accepted as the qualification required to designated CERT members.

Are there any prerequisites for enrolling in the CERT course? 

Participants should be proficient in English, able to perform moderate physical activities like CPR, and willing to practice techniques on fellow learners.

Can I use my SkillsFuture Credits (SFC) or SSG funding? 

Yes. The CERT Refresher course is eligible for SSG funding and SkillsFuture Credits. When registering via our Baoza platform, your subsidy is automatically calculated so you only pay the nett fee.

It’s been 2 years since I last took this course. Will I struggle with the CERT First Aider Refresher Course? 

It is natural to feel a bit 'rusty' after two years, but the CERT First Aider Refresher is specifically designed to bring your skills back to peak performance quickly. This intensive 4-hour session focuses on high-impact practical coaching and the latest protocol updates . Our experienced trainers provide personalized guidance during every drill, from CPR to bandaging, ensuring your technique is precise before you move to assessment. You will leave the session feeling more refreshed, confident, and prepared to lead your Company Emergency Response Team once again.

If I wish to become a first aid instructor, does the CERT First Aider Course meet the prerequisites?

The CERT First Aider Course does not meet the qualifying prerequisites for the entry into the first aid instructor course in Singapore (Standard First Aid Instructor Course). The minimum first aid provider level that is required for the Standard First Aid Instructor Course is the Standard First Aid Course. 

What happens if I miss a session or fail the assessment? 

To remain eligible for SSG funding, you must use the Singpass app for attendance and pass all assessments. If these requirements are not met, the trainee or sponsoring company may be liable for the full, non-funded course fee.

How many attempts do I have for the CERT First Aider Refresher assessments? 

Most CERT First Aider Refresher learners succeed on their first try; however, we provide up to 3 attempts to complete all theory and practical assessments successfully.

Is the CERT First Aider Refresher Course easy? Will it be difficult to pass the CERT Refresher Course?
