Medical Care On Board Ship Refresher Course

TGS-2023700630

What's In It For Me

The Medical Care On Board Ship Refresher Course is designed for maritime personnel who already hold valid certification and must update their skills to continue providing medical care while at sea. It ensures they remain proficient in recognising, assessing and stabilising medical conditions on board, in accordance with the requirements of the STCW Convention (specifically Regulation VI/4) and related training codes.

During this three-day intensive update, participants revisit the key aspects of onboard medical care including nursing principles, injury and wound management, respiratory and cardiovascular emergencies, disease prevention, and medical assistance for rescued persons. Realistic scenarios and practical drills help the learner refresh critical skills and meet the performance criteria for continued certification.

On successful completion, participants receive a renewed certificate verifying their ability to fulfil the medical‐care duties designated aboard vessel operations. This refresher contributes to compliance under flag-state regulations and promotes ongoing readiness to deliver timely, effective medical support in offshore or shipboard environments.
