The goal of the Child First Aid Refresher Course is to equip you with the skills and knowledge to

• Act Decisively: Confidently recognise and respond to life-threatening emergencies in adults, children and infants.
• Deliver Life Support: Perform high-quality CPR and operate an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) with precision.
• Stabilize Injuries: Apply proper bandaging, splinting, and wound care techniques for common adult and childhood accidents.
• Administer First Aid for Illness: Correctly manage acute conditions like choking, fits, and severe allergic reactions.
• Complete Assessments Successfully: Attain the capabilities to perform and excel in the theory and practical assessments
• Obtain Professional Certification: Secure your SRFAC-endorsed certificate (valid for 2 years) for Child First Aid, which also includes Standard First Aid, and BCLS+AED.

To successfully complete the Child First Aid Refresher Course, you will need to

• Complete all e-learning modules including lessons and quizzes
• Attend all in-class sessions
• Achieve a minimum 80% score for the Child First Aid Theory Assessment
• Successfully complete all practical assessments for BCLS+AED, choking, bandaging, application of tourniquet, administration of MDI (inhaler) and administration of Epipen. 

Although most learners succeed at first try, up to 3 attempts are given to complete all assessments successfully.

Child First Aid Refresher Course learners must be

• Proficient in English
• Able to perform moderate physical activities such as CPR
• Willing to practice techniques on one another
• Holding a Child First Aid Certification (valid or within 3 months of expiry)

The Child First Aid Refresher Course is eligible for SSG Funding and SkillsFuture Credits (SFC). This is handled automatically on our Baoza platform. 

SkillsFuture Funding & Eligibility

• Instant Subsidy: Funding is subjected to SSG approval. During registration, your applicable subsidy will be automatically calculated—you only pay the Nett Fee (balance after funding).
• Confirmation: Your seat is secured once your nett fee payment is received.
• Compliance Requirements: To maintain your subsidy, you must record your attendance via the Singpass App and successfully pass all assessments.
• Funding Liability: If SSG requirements are not met (e.g., absence or assessment failure), or if SSG rejects the claim, the participant or sponsoring company will be liable for the full, non-funded course fee.

A certification obtained through the Child First Aid Refresher Course is strictly valid for 2 years. To ensure continuous ECDA compliance and stay within SRFAC (Singapore Resuscitation and First Aid Council) guidelines, learners must complete the refresher training before their current Child First Aid validity period ends.

What are the specific prerequisites for the Child First Aid Refresher Course? 

To enroll in the Child First Aid Refresher, participants must hold a Child First Aid (CFA) certificate that is either still valid or within 3 months of its expiry date. Learners must also be proficient in English and physically capable of performing moderate activities, such as hands-on Child First Aid CPR practice.

What is the difference between the Child First Aid Refresher and the full Child First Aid Course? 

The Child First Aid Refresher Course is optimized for experienced learners, featuring a condensed 3-hour online theory component compared to the 7-hour requirement for the full course. While the duration is shorter, the Child First Aid Refresher still covers all essential competencies, including infant life support, child accident prevention, and emergency response.

Does the Child First Aid Refresher include "3-in-1" certification? 

Yes. Successfully completing the Child First Aid Refresher Course at SFATC awards you three SRFAC-endorsed certificates: Child First Aid (CFA), Standard First Aid (SFA), and BCLS+AED. This comprehensive bundle ensures you meet the safety requirements for both childcare environments and general Singapore workplaces.

Is the Child First Aid Refresher recognized for NROC and NREP coaches? 

Yes. Because the Child First Aid Refresher Course includes full Standard First Aid (SFA) certification, it is officially recognized for the National Registry of Coaches (NROC) and National Registry of Exercise Professionals (NREP) mandatory requirements.

Are the fees for the Child First Aid Refresher eligible for SkillsFuture Credits or SSG funding?

What happens if I miss a session or fail the Child First Aid Refresher assessment? 

To remain eligible for SSG funding, all Child First Aid Refresher trainees must use the Singpass app for e-attendance and pass all practical and theory assessments. If these requirements are not met, the trainee or their sponsoring company may be held liable for the full, non-funded Child First Aid fee.

How many attempts are given for the Child First Aid Refresher assessments? 

While the majority of our Child First Aid learners succeed on their first attempt, SFATC provides up to 3 attempts to successfully complete the theory and practical assessments.
