The goal of the Mandarin CERT First Aider Course is to equip you to:

• Assess with Speed: Conduct scene surveys to prioritize care safely.
• Perform with Precision: Execute CPR and AED procedures correctly following voice prompts and safety precautions.
• Apply Treatment: Effectively use bandaging for wounds and provide support for sprains, strains, and fractures.
• Complete Assessments Successfully: Attain the capabilities to perform and excel in the theory and practical assessments
• Obtain Professional Certification: Secure your SCDF-recognised certificate (valid for 2 years) for CERT First Aider assignment.

To successfully complete the Mandarin CERT First Aider Course, you will need to

• Attend all in-class sessions
• Achieve a minimum 80% score for the Mandarin CERT First Aider Theory Assessment
• Successfully complete all practical assessments for CPR+AED and bandaging. 

Although most learners succeed at first try, up to 3 attempts are given to complete all assessments successfully.

Who is required to take the Mandarin CERT First Aider (CERT) Course? 

The Mandarin CERT First Aider course is required for all workplace CERT responders who must respond to medical and trauma emergencies at work. This training ensures organizations meet mandatory regulatory requirements for emergency preparedness.

How long is the SCDF Recognised Mandarin CERT First Aider certification valid? 

The Mandarin CERT First Aider certification is valid for 2 years. To maintain your qualification for compliance, you must attend a refresher course within 3 months of current certificate expiry.

What is the difference between the Full Classroom Mandarin CERT First Aider Course and Mandarin CERT First Aider Blended Course? 

Both versions of the Mandarin CERT First Aider Course carry the same topics and recognition. They are both recognised by the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) for assigned CERT First Aid Responders. The full classroom course features 8 hours of in-person training, while the blended version allows you to complete theory online, reducing classroom time by almost half, while covering the same accredited curriculum. The full classroom course is a better option for those who prefer to learn through lectures and direct interaction, rather than through self-directed learning. It boils down to the preference of each individual. 

What is the difference between the Mandarin CERT First Aider Course and the Mandarin Standard First Aid Course?

The Mandarin CERT First Aider (CERT) Course provides the essentials for managing adult emergencies in the community and workplace. The Mandarin Standard First Aid (SFA) Course is a more comprehensive course covering about 12 hours of lessons and skills practice. While Mandarin SFA is mandatory for sports professionals and coaches, the Mandarin CERT First Aider Course is laser-focused for CERT responders attending to workplace emergencies. This streamlined approach ensures learners who are designated CERT First Aiders complete their training efficiently, without needing to undergo additional modules beyond their scope of practice.

What specific life-saving skills are covered in the Mandarin CERT First Aider Course? 

You will learn to perform high-quality hands-only CPR and AED operations for adults, as well as how to manage injuries like bleeding, fractures and burns.

Is this course accepted by SCDF for recognition of designated CERT Members?

Yes. The Mandarin CERT First Aider Course is recognised and accepted as the qualification required to designated CERT members.

Are there any prerequisites for enrolling in the CERT course? 

Participants should be proficient in English, able to perform moderate physical activities like CPR, and willing to practice techniques on fellow learners.

Can I use my SkillsFuture Credits (SFC) or SSG funding? 

Yes. The CERT course is eligible for SSG funding and SkillsFuture Credits. When registering via our Baoza platform, your subsidy is automatically calculated so you only pay the nett fee.

I don’t have past exposure to first aid. Will I struggle with the Mandarin CERT First Aider Course? 

The Mandarin CERT First Aider Course is designed to take you from a complete beginner to an effective responder. The curriculum follows a structured progression: we start with the Essentials of First Aid to build your foundation, then gradually pick up the pace as we move into medical and injury emergencies. You will be coached throughout the entire 1-day session by experienced trainers through instructor-led lectures, demonstrations, and intensive hands-on practice. Skills are observed individually while our trainers provide active coaching to ensure you meet the requirements for each skill, from bandaging to CPR+AED usage, before moving on to assessments. Through this mix of theory and practical drills, you will gain the confidence needed to successfully pass the course and respond effectively in a real-life crisis.

If I wish to become a first aid instructor, does the CERT First Aider Course meet the prerequisites?

The CERT First Aider Course does not meet the qualifying prerequisites for the entry into the first aid instructor course in Singapore (Standard First Aid Instructor Course). The minimum first aid provider level that is required for the Standard First Aid Instructor Course is the Standard First Aid Course. 

What happens if I miss a session or fail the assessment? 

To remain eligible for SSG funding, you must use the Singpass app for attendance and pass all assessments. If these requirements are not met, the trainee or sponsoring company may be liable for the full, non-funded course fee.

How many attempts do I have for the Mandarin CERT First Aider assessments? 

Most Mandarin CERT First Aider learners succeed on their first try; however, we provide up to 3 attempts to complete all theory and practical assessments successfully.
