Additional Notes

Mandarin Child First Aid Course FAQs:

Who is required to take the Mandarin Child First Aid (CFA) course?

Under the Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA) regulations, all staff working in licensed childcare centers and preschools must hold a valid Mandarin Child First Aid certification. This course is also highly recommended for parents, caregivers, and sports coaches.

How long is the SRFAC Recognised Mandarin Child First Aid certification valid?

The Mandarin Child First Aid certification is valid for 2 years. To maintain your qualification for ECDA compliance, you must attend a refresher course before your current certificate expires.

What is the "3-in-1" certification benefit at SFATC?

When you complete our CFA course, you don't just get one certificate. You receive three SRFAC-endorsed certifications: Child First Aid (CFA), Standard First Aid (SFA), and BCLS+AED. This ensures you are fully covered for both childcare and general workplace requirements.

What is the difference between the Child First Aid Course and the Standard First Aid Course?

Standard First Aid (SFA) is general, while Child First Aid (CFA) covers content that goes beyond Standard First Aid. Additional topics covering child-related emergencies, infant life support and child accident prevention are included in the Child First Aid Course. In addition, the assessments set for the Child First Aid Course cover a greater scope of competencies. In essence, the Child First Aid Course has everything in the Standard First Aid, and more.

What specific life-saving skills are covered in the Mandarin Child First Aid Course?

You will learn to perform high-quality CPR and AED operations for adults, children, and infants, as well as how to manage choking, asthma attacks, seizures, and common playground injuries like fractures and burns.

Is the Child First Aid Course recognized for NROC and NREP coaches?

Yes. Because our Child First Aid Course includes Standard First Aid (SFA) certification, it meets the mandatory requirements for National Registry of Coaches (NROC) and National Registry of Exercise Professionals (NREP) recognition.

Are there any prerequisites for enrolling in the CFA course?

Participants should be proficient in English, able to perform moderate physical activities like CPR, and willing to practice techniques on fellow learners.

Is the course fee eligible for SkillsFuture Credits (SFC) or SSG funding?

Yes. The CFA course is eligible for SSG funding and SkillsFuture Credits. When registering via our Baoza platform, your subsidy is automatically calculated so you only pay the nett fee.

What is the difference between the "Blended" and "Full" classroom course?

Our Blended Learning format is designed for maximum flexibility. You complete 7 hours of theory online at your own pace before attending just one day of high-intensity practical training in class.

If I wish to become a first aid instructor, should I take the Standard First Aid Course or the Child First Aid Course to meet the prerequisites?

Both the Standard First Aid Course and the Child First Aid Course are accredited by the Singapore Resuscitation and First Aid Council, and both meet the qualifying prerequisites for the entry into the first aid instructor course in Singapore (Standard First Aid Instructor Course). In addition, if you intend to teach the Child First Aid Course, you must have a valid Child First Aid Certification. Therefore, it is recommended that all potential instructor candidates take up the Child First Aid Course at the beginning of their instructor journey.

What happens if I miss a session or fail the assessment?

To remain eligible for SSG funding, you must use the Singpass app for attendance and pass all assessments. If these requirements are not met, the trainee or sponsoring company may be liable for the full, non-funded course fee.

How many attempts do I have for the Mandarin Child First Aid assessments?

Most Mandarin Child First Aid learners succeed on their first try; however, we provide up to 3 attempts to complete all theory and practical assessments successfully.

Is the Mandarin Child First Aid Course easy? Will it be difficult to pass the Mandarin CFA Course?

Although the Mandarin Child First Aid Course entails a wide spectrum of both adult and child first aid topics and skills practice, it is easy to follow and delivered in a highly interactive manner to encourage retention. Not only is the success rate of learners very high, they feel confident and more prepared to perform during emergency situations.
